RSS feed

Internet is a good source of information. Often we search internet for information. In this process we find many websites useful and want to follow every day for new information. For example I found lifehacker very useful. It has many good articles on ‘Health’, ‘Life’, ‘Work’ etc. Almost every other day I open this website to check new articles. In this manner I have many favorite websites like ‘lifehacker’. Now it is tedious and time consuming to open every favorite websites to check new articles every day. Here comes the RSS feed.

RSS uses a family of standard web feed formats to publish frequently updated information like blog entries, news headlines, audio, video etc. An RSS document (called “feed”, “web feed” or “channel”) includes full or summarized text, and metadata, like publishing date and author’s name.

If you use RSS, there is no need to open all your favorite websites manually to check new articles. RSS client automatically notify you when new articles become available at your favorite websites.

Steps to start using RSS:

  1. Select a good RSS client. I use feedly.
  2. Register your favorite websites in the RSS client.
  3. Now when you open RSS client it will show you all the new articles from your registered websites. If you use RSS client in your phone, it will notify you every time when new articles are available in your registered websites.

RSS client holds and notifies you about the new articles throughout your registered websites. I have more than 20 websites registered in ‘feedly’. When I open ‘feedly’ it gives me a summary of all the new articles from my registered websites.
