Bolpur

Yesterday we went to ‘Bolpur’. It was a one day trip. ‘Bolpur’ is famous for ‘Santiniketon’. It was established by ‘Maharshi Devendranath Tagore’, and later expanded by his son ‘Rabindranath Tagore’ whose vision became what is now a university town, ‘Visva-Bharati University’.

‘Maharshi Debendranath Tagore’ bought this place. It was used as a spiritual place for people. Later ‘Rabindranath Tagore’ started ‘Patha Bhavana’ there whose main objective was teachings in the nature. Now it has a big campus with student hostel, playground, museum etc.

Apart from the main campus of ‘Santiniketon’ we saw two side places there. One is ‘Khowai’ where we saw local market and forest and another is ‘Kankalitala’ where we saw a Kali temple.

Overall it was a good one day trip in the winter season.
